For those who have been reading my blog (which is relatively new, so I expect there aren’t many of you), you may have noticed a few changes. I’ll be honest, when I first began this blog I wasn’t sure what kinds of things I wanted to write about. I had no idea what I should call it, and finally settled on “Passport to Wonders”, though I wasn’t entirely happy with that.
The phrase comes from a quote by Libba Bray, and I really like what she says:
“The library card is a passport to wonders and miracles, glimpses into other lives, religions, experiences, the hopes and dreams and strivings of ALL human beings, and it is this passport that opens our eyes and hearts to the world beyond our front doors, that is one of our best hopes against tyranny, xenophobia, hopelessness, despair, anarchy, and ignorance.”
― Libba Bray
However, as the weeks have gone by, I’ve felt more and more that this title does not adequately embody my intentions for this blog. When you read “Passport to Wonders” I don’t think you get a good idea of what this is all about.
So, with trepidation I began my search for a better title (trepidation because it really is hard to find the perfect name… that isn’t already taken!).
I came up with Sundry Tales but quickly found that it was already taken (by a blog that hasn’t been used since 2006, no less) so decided I also quite liked Some Sundry Tales. So that was that. It felt like a great fit, and seemed to embody what I wanted my blog to be about – stories, musings and things of all kinds.
I’ve also changed up the theme. I was kind of overwhelmed when I first started this blog and chose a theme that I didn’t dislike (but didn’t love, either) and stuck with it for a while. But here’s a theme I really love.
The photograph is called “Serene Sunset” and was taken by Robert Bynum.
So with that said, welcome to my “new” and improved blog – Some Sundry Tales.
