A Trip to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada in Toronto

The hubby and I recently went to see Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada in downtown Toronto. It opened a couple of months ago, and we bought our tickets before they opened. Yep, we were pretty excited!

We spent less than 2 hours there; it was smaller than I expected, but still a lot of fun! It was also very busy, so I definitely recommend going on a weekday, like we did. It’s crazy on the weekend. We packed a lunch, including some sandwiches, and ate it at the entrance.

So, there we were chowing down on some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before we began.

Yum. But then the excitement! It was dark throughout the aquarium, but the lighting highlighted all the great underwater creatures. There was a really cool section where you stood on a conveyer belt and it took you slowly through a tunnel with waters all around you. There were fish and sharks swimming beside you and above you. Very cool perspective.

Some of my favourite shots are up-close. I actually have no idea what this is, but it reminded me of something from Star Trek.

A starfish plastered against the glass. Looks so cool!

Perhaps my favourite part of the aquarium, though, was the jellyfish. So beautiful.

This picture is deceiving. This jellyfish was small. Tiny, in fact.

It was a great trip, and I have A LOT more pictures. But these are some of my favourites. My only disappointment is that I didn’t see any turtles. I’m not sure if I missed them somehow, but there were none! David more than made up for it though – he bought me turtle earrings for Christmas!

At the end of the day we took a trip to Starbucks and got a coffee. All around a great day, despite the cold! 🙂

Thanks Jeanette! The tickets are definitely pricey. I think we got a discount because we pre-ordered in August before they opened in October. But even then I think we still paid about $50.00.

  2. Yay for your first three blog posts! Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. If you have any questions, I can help answer!

I kinda want to go see Ripley’s Aquarium, but the price tag of those tickets always stops me! Maybe one day!
